Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-ter-Koorts Chapel in Leuven: From Baroque Church to KU Leuven Archive

A Baroque Landmark
The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-ter-Koorts Chapel in Leuven is a fine example of Baroque religious architecture, built between 1641 and 1733. Over the centuries, the chapel has served multiple functions, adapting to the needs of the community.

Parish and Monastery
From 1803 to 1871, the chapel functioned as a parish church before being transformed into a monastery of the Friars Minor, which it remained until 1986.

Part of the KADOC Site
In 1986, KU Leuven purchased the chapel and monastery complex, integrating it into the KADOC site—the university’s archive, research, and documentation centre for religion, culture, and society. Since then, the chapel has become part of Leuven’s academic and cultural heritage.
