Old City Walls in the Sint-Donatus Park

The park was laid out in the English landscape style between 1869 and 1875 and was re-landscaped between 1993 and 1998. The park covers an area of approximately 2.4 hectares. The park is the most popular place for students to gather to enjoy a chill out.

Pieces of the city wall and city tower in (iron) sandstone are still standing in the Sint-Donatus Park or city park of Leuven. Those leftovers from the distant past are over 800 years old! Leuven once came as far as here and no further. As the city grew, a new wall was built further on.
