Leuven has so many statues that enhance the spirit of places in the city.  All illustrations in this series are inspired by some of the famous female statues in Leuven.

This one from the collection illustrates 'Renée'. In 1997, the Trade Association of Leuven gifted this statue to the city because of its 50th anniversary.  Renée refers to the active, hardworking female students in Leuven. The book that she holds is entitled ‘Loveniers Armand’, which is the name of the sculptor.
